Approvals holds writes for a human via Slack, ServiceNow, a signed webhook or the admin queue. Delegation runs calls as the calling agent through RFC 8693 token exchange or Microsoft Entra on-behalf-of. SAML on the admin interface or a business associate agreement requires Enterprise terms.
What counts as a production API
Each entry under apis:, or each single-API process, that serves production agent traffic.
- Staging, development and test environments
diff, lintandprobein any environment- More policies against the same upstream
- More agents against the same API
- Tool calls, tokens and named users, never metered
Design partner program
The first 20 Business customers pay $12,000 for year one, half the list price. In return: feedback during rollout and a short call each quarter. A case study is welcome, never required.
Pricing questions
How do you enforce the limits?
Contractually, with an annual true-up. Absorb does not phone home and will not stop an agent call because of a license count. A product whose job is control should not fail closed on billing.
Is there a free edition?
Yes. Community is free for one production API, with unlimited staging, development and test APIs and the same compiler and enforcement engine as the paid editions. It has no support, dashboard, metrics export or packs, and its review reports carry a watermark. Get a free license.
Can I buy online?
Yes. Team and Business are sold online by card through Dodo Payments, our merchant of record, which also handles sales tax and VAT. The license arrives by email within minutes and renews each year until cancelled, with a reminder before every renewal. Business is also available by invoice, and Enterprise is invoiced. Buy it now.
What counts as a production API?
One entry under apis: (or one single-API process) that serves real agent traffic. Staging and development are unlimited and free, and so are diff, lint and probe anywhere. Extra policies on the same upstream, and extra agents on the same API, do not count.
Do you meter tool calls or tokens?
No. There is no call meter and no license server in the product. If you want a ceiling, we write a fair use number into the contract and true up once a year on API count.
Is anything about security held back for higher tiers?
No. The compiler, deny rules, field projection, argument conditions, credential handling, OIDC agent sign-in, TLS and the audit log are in every edition. Editions differ on how many production APIs you connect, the operations tooling, the paperwork and the identity and ITSM packs.
Can we start on Team and grow?
Yes. Extra production APIs are an order form line at $1,200 on Team and $800 on Business, and moving to Business or Enterprise is an amendment rather than a new purchase.
What does a typical first year look like?
A platform team with eight internal APIs, a DPA and audit going into Splunk lands on Business at $24,000. Adding Entra delegated identity takes it to $30,000. A bank with 30 APIs, ServiceNow approvals and a source exhibit lands on Enterprise at $60,000.
Do you offer multi-year or evaluation terms?
Multi-year prepaid is 15 percent off for two years and 25 percent off for three. Evaluations run on the real binary with unlimited non-production use, so you can compile and probe every API you own before paying for any.
Security architecture and data handling are on the security page.
